The Minority in Parliament, led by the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has dismissed claims that the 2024 teachers manual introduced sexual identity or related concepts.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Assafuah explained that the 2024 core teacher manual focused strictly on physical health and general wellbeing.

He outlined that the material covered areas such as fitness, wellness, traditional dance, recreation, career pathways and basic health concepts rooted in biology.

According to him, the manual did not include any form of identity based sexuality content.

He stressed that there was no reference to sexual identity, gender expression or sexual rights in the 2024 manual.

He added that the document also made no mention of sexual pleasure as a right or protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender.

Mr Assafuah noted that all the concepts currently being discussed by critics can only be found in the 2025 elective teacher manual, not the 2024 core version.

He explained that definitions relating to sexuality, sexual orientation, gender expression and sexual rights in the current elective manual were new additions and not inherited from previous materials.

He insisted that claims suggesting such content existed in the 2024 manual were inaccurate.

He maintained that the facts were clear and open for verification.

He added that the Minority had a copy of the 2024 manual and would make it available to the media after the briefing to allow independent checks.

The Minority believes public debate on the issue should be guided by facts rather than misinformation, urging stakeholders to carefully distinguish between the 2024 core manual and the 2025 elective material.
